For those of you whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, I am Dennis F. Luttrell, your new City Manager. Prior to serving the citizens of Lebanon, I served as a County Commissioner, State Wildlife Commissioner, Environmental Planner, and Town Administrator. In the private sector, I was a former cadastral cartographer and geotechnical field engineer in Colorado. However, my roots are that of a New Englander having lived most of my life in Massachusetts and Vermont. I also am a graduate of the University of Vermont.
I was drawn to Lebanon by the excellent quality of life it provides to its residents as well as the city government’s plan to achieve sustainability and to maintain that quality of life. One of the focuses of the city’s strategy is upon Excellent Planning. As a former planner and municipal manager, I recognize how important Excellent Planning is to the community’s future. I want to be a part of what is happening here in Lebanon.
As I write these remarks, we are in the midst of a visioning process for the city’s downtown area, which you will find is the general focus of this edition of City of Lebanon News. On the following four pages, you will find an extremely informative article written by our Planning & Zoning Director David Brooks that outlines the process to-date and provides information on what is planned for the future. It is my hope that you will take the time to read this article and then take the survey found in the centerfold section. It is included as a pullout, so it can be easily removed for mailing, or dropping off at City Hall, Lebanon Library, or Kilton Library. If you prefer, the survey is also available on-line at: http://goo.gl/forms/9DjA7a9tCJ
You will also see as your continue through the pages, we are getting ready to kick-off Citizens Academy 2016. The application can be filled out and dropped off in my office at City Hall or you may complete it online at http://academy.lebnh.net/home/apply. From what I understand the Academy has been a great success in the past couple of years and I look forward to taking part with the 2016 class.
I am excited to begin 2016 with all that is happening here in Lebanon and hope that you will be able to join me in our endeavors as we learn together, and work to move Lebanon towards becoming a sustainable community.
