Mr. Mello is a lifelong New Hampshire Police Officer having begun his career with the City of Concord in February 1993. His most recent employment has been with the Town of Hollis, where he has worked since 2002, advancing from Patrol Officer up through the ranks to Lieutenant, which is second in command for the Department.
Mr. Mello is both a student and a teacher. He is a graduate of Florida State University (Tallahassee) and possesses a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. During the longevity of his career, he has trained in Management/Leadership and Specialized Police Operations, and taught others in the art of Law Enforcement at Middlesex Community College in Lowell, Massachusetts. He has also served as a guest Lecturer at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.
During his tenure in the Town of Hollis, Mr. Mello instituted programs such as a Mountain Bike Patrol, Patrol Oriented Public Safety Programs, and a call-in/dispatch center where senior citizens that live alone can call in each morning to let the department know that they are safe and well. All of these programs demonstrate a commitment to community oriented policing and community engagement which speak highly to the goals and mission of the Lebanon Police Department.
